Life has been pretty uneventful. I’ve written maybe a whole paragraph of a short story in the past week which I guess is better than what I had. (A whole lot of nothing for almost two years). I spent some time trying to decide on either a Kindle Fire HD or a netbook. I’m planning on visiting family next month in Texas and I want something I can keep in contact with Brandon on and maybe get some writing done.
I’ve heard a change of scenery can help with writer’s block, so I suppose we’ll see if that’s true. To be fair Indiana seems to be completely devoid of anything creative. Texas while it definitely has it’s downfalls has some beautiful scenery, some of the best food, and is bursting with artists and writers. At least the part of Texas I’m from.
Indiana’s a nice enough place, but it doesn’t really spark much creativity in me. I’ve got a much better job than I did in Texas that does a much better job of paying the bills and Brandon loves it here.
Speaking of my job yesterday was insane. I was shipping orders and wound up spending the day listening to customer complaints and trying to help them to the best of my ability. Luckily I’m no stranger when it comes to working in other departments. I can pretty much answer any question someone asks. We had two customers that tripped and fell yesterday and one that was hit in the head because of various messes. Other customers just couldn’t find anyone to help them despite there being one or more person in every department. This is why we’re meant to greet customers when we see them so they know where the people that can help them are. If I can say hi and act like a regular human being despite being the most socially awkward person in existence everyone else should be able to do the same.
My yearly review is coming up this week which means I should be getting a raise. I’m planning on bringing up being turned down for promotion not once but four times now. I took this job because I was assured that there would be chances to advance and I literally know that place inside and out now. Hell I’d be happy with being a supervisor. I want the experience and to be a full time employee.
